Shipping costs on books: Amazon doesn't want you to pay, the state does, why?

Summoned by decree to impose 3 euros in delivery costs for book orders under 35 euros, Amazon goes to war against the state.

The battle promises to be fierce between the e-commerce giant, Amazon, and the government, which wants to impose delivery charges on it for orders below a certain amount. The online sales company rightly indicated, on Tuesday afternoon, that it had filed an appeal for abuse of power before the Council of State, the highest French administrative court, to challenge the legality of the implementing decree.

The state wants to rebalance things and protect French booksellers, but...

Remember, on September 23, we informed you of the agreement given by the government for shipping costs set at 3 euros for any order of books whose total amount is less than 35 euros. This measure, which had initially been proposed by ARCEP following the adoption of the Darcos law (2021) on the end of free or almost free delivery costs for books, had provoked outrage from Amazon.
